TREASURES OF AFRICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST (TAME) is a series of multi-platform programs (print, broadcast, e-Zine for web, mobile phone, podcast) that aim to educate and inform viewers about the cultural treasures of Africa and the Middle East from fresh perspectives that are inclusive of indigenous points-of-view. In today’s politically, socially and economically challenged and troubled world, such a project seems appropriate.

TAME content is designed to enhance the capacity of mainstream international and local media to more broadly inform and educate readers, viewers and listeners with programs that include indigenous voices that delve deeply into many aspects of history, cultures and contemporary life throughout the Middle East and Africa.

The OLAfrica Knowledge Foundation views TAME as a tool for public and cultural diplomacy. We believe it has the potential to enhance understanding and cooperation between people much like TOPIC Magazine which was used by the US Department of State to inform readers around the world about the often-overlooked aspects of life in the United States during the "Cold War".

The main purpose of TAME is to keep the African and Middle Eastern  “memory” alive among community and commercial media consumers around the world by shedding light on people, places, events and activities that remain largely unknown or unrecognized to a large part of the world.

TAME aspires to:

  • Provide content that will be useful for educating and informing audiences around the world who have little or no access to accurate and balanced information and programming about the culturally diversity of Africa and the Middle East.
  • Enhance the ability of Africa and the Middle East to attract better-informed tourists, more fervent life-long-learning partners and new socially responsible investors in human capital.
  • Provide sustainable solutions to the current widespread “under-employment” of many graduates of media schools who wish to extend the deployment of their media skills beyond the traditional mainstream news media. Production and management personnel for TAME will come from the many recent graduates of media education and training programs throughout our targeted regions. The OLAfrica CyberAc@demy continues to help universities and media operations update the skills of their staff and clientele so these individuals become an ever-expanding source of qualified personnel and expertise for OLAfrica Knowledge Foundation programs which include TAME.
